YES! ALLIANCE:   MANY VOICES FOR EDUCATION
Youth, Educators, and Storytellers (YES!) Alliance SIG Pre-Conference

YES! ALLIANCE—Youth Educators and Storytellers Alliance—offers something for everyone who shares a love of the many voices of storytelling in education, from those who work with the very young as they learn to speak their first stories, to the powerful spoken-word presentations of pre-teens through teens and the people who advocate for and support them, to the wise words of teachers, mentors, parents, and elders who inform and appreciate the young.  Mary Jo Huff will bring joy-filled concepts to the early-childhood adventure of sharing story experiences; Angela Lloyd will encourage and inform us with ways she has approached and offered exciting storytelling residencies in schools; Jane Stenson will contribute to our knowledge of storytelling’s impact on a child’s personality and experiences; Mike Lockett will excite us with an action-packed opening keynote on storytelling as a teaching tool utilized around the world.  Come fill your mind with ideas, and help us increase the use of storytelling in education; leave with your heart filled with the joy and inspiration of laughter, learning, and love of story.

Organizational Storytelling: The Art, The Science, and The Practice
Storytelling in Organizations(SIO) SIG Pre-Conference

Stories create change. For the organizational practitioner, it's an idea that is full of promise even as it raises questions: How do stories work? WHY do they work? How can you exercise the discipline of narrative to create purposeful change in your organization? In this half-day pre-conference, hosted by the NSN's Storytelling in Organizations special interest group, you'll hear about the art from a renowned Hollywood insider. You'll dig into the science with the help of noted author and master storyteller Kendall Haven. As for the practice? That will come from you! In the final, energizing session you will experience the power of "future narrative" for your organization... and return to the office with a compelling new story to share.
