Here’s what members have said about NSN:

“NSN is where some of the most innovative ideas and cutting edge projects happen in applied and performance storytelling—whether at festivals, in the art, or in business, youth, education, healthcare or others— I wouldn’t miss being a member for the world.”

“When I was asked to produce Tellabration!, I panicked! Then I got in touch with the NSN office, got the step-by-step guide and I came off looking like a pro.”

“I find some little gem of wisdom in every Storytelling Magazine. A teller tip, an interesting website, an aspect of storytelling I knew nothing about...I love it.”

Support NSN

The National Storytelling Network works hard to support storytelling and storytellers. We are constantly searching for ways to serve our community of storytellers and support the art form better.

How can we do it all? We can only do it with your support. We count on your donations to deliver programs and services to the storytelling community and to advocate for the art form.

Please show your support with a donation of $200, $100, $75, $50, or whatever you can give today.

To make an affordable monthly pledge donation,
please call 1-800-525-4514.

What other ways can you support NSN? Let your imagination guide you:

  • Some supporters choose the convenience of monthly pledges instead of one-time gifts. Regular manageable contributions can be charged automatically. To plan a monthly pledge, please phone NSN at 1-800-525-4514.

  • Produce a benefit event! Raise awareness of storytelling at the same time you raise funds to support NSN – and join the growing number of NSN Storytelling Heroes across the country.

  • Purchase advertising for yourself or your organization on Storynet.org or in Storytelling Magazine.

  • Purchase an NSN Box of Books worth approximately $1,000 and pay only $200 plus shipping. You can resell these at your event for a profit to help cover expenses. A great way to provide valuable resources at local events! Interested? Contact NSN staff Kit Rogers or 800-525-4514 ext. 306.

“NSN is the voice of the storytelling community at the national level: educating, informing and advocating for all of us. Why not put your money where your mouth is?”

---Elizabeth Ellis, “One of America’s finest storytellers.” (School Library Journal), Texas

“NSN is THE national professional organization for storytellers. If we wish to build a viable cultural presence for professional storytelling in this country, it behooves us to give to NSN, in the form of money and volunteer energy—that’s our way of supporting the profession.”

---Joseph Sobol, Ph.D., Coordinator, ETSU Storytelling Graduate Program, Tennessee

“Most of us who tell stories are "in trenches" rather than "on platforms." We're telling in schools, libraries, museums, parks, boardrooms and all. Together we're building communities one story at a time. NSN helps us build bridges over miles, across borders. From the revered performance teller to the blessed day care provider, NSN connects us to the power of storytelling in our daily lives. With NSN's support existing storytellers strengthen their skills, new tellers find their voices and we build appreciative audiences for this art form. We ARE the American Storytelling Movement, growing for a new generation.”

---BZ Smith, storyteller and community arts advocate, California

“There are many ways to ‘give’ to NSN - by participating and volunteering, by encouraging others to join so that our organization is robust and representative of a broad spectrum of people, and by our direct financial support.  Through our generosity, we are shining the light on storytelling for an ever increasing audience of listeners, potential funders and tellers.   And that is a benefit to us all!”

---Connie Regan Blake, one of America’s most celebrated storytellers, North Carolina

“I would love to see NSN grow and thrive. This is a crucial time so I suggest that fifty or a hundred of us pledge $100 for the next three years and perhaps those of us who are wealthy, pledge $1,000 for the next three years. It would be a great help for NSN to know they have a certain sum they can depend on.”

---Jay O’Callahan, 2011 Lifetime Achievement ORACLE Award recipient, Massachusetts
